Garden workshop in Banstead

Giselle of Soft Furnishings by Giselle, approached us in June 2020 after having seen us build another garden room just a few doors down from her property. Based in Banstead Giselle offers soft furnishing for interiors, such as curtains and blinds and was looking to have a new workspace built to get her out of the house.

When we first met Giselle to discuss her requirements, she said to us “I want the exact same as you’ve built a few doors down…just a little bigger”. It turned out that she really did need quite a large space in order to be able to manufacturer large curtains for large window spaces. We came up with a design for her and it turned out to be a 6m by 4m space. Our biggest garden room to date!

We started the process of the build by laying a solid concrete base, before moving on to the studwork and first fixings. While Giselle hadn’t asked for internet cables to be run to the building, we suggested that to future proof herself that she should have this added in.

Once the walls were up, the roof went on, provided by Giselle’s neighbour Dave Hayden of DH Roofing Services. Building now somewhat watertight, we could move on to the insulation, ply and plasterboard, before the doors could go in and the plaster work could be done.

For Giselle’s build we also did all of her underlay and flooring and also installed a Condense Heater as she’ll be working there during the winter. All of our rooms are built with insulation in mind, so the condense heater was built primarily for those really cold days in winter.

With the building finished, Giselle also required a very large work table for her business, which we also worked on for her. This was totally custom to her specification, working closely with her to design and build what she needed. We really can take on any level of carpentry job, we just need to know what you’re looking to build. Please take a look at the pictures to see more.

We’re really happy with the results of Giselle’s build and we think she is too with the below from her Facebook page:

SEW my new work space is now complete and I’m ready to start moving in.
I’m a great believer in support small local businesses and I certainly hit the jackpot in choosing @bluegoosecarpentry to build my new working home. Brilliant work, all hand built, I can’t recommend them highly enough. I wonder whose soft furnishings will be the first on my newly built work table? Watch this space.

If you like the look of Giselle’s garden workshop and are thinking of getting your own, we’d love to have a conversation.
